Two labourers die after falling from Videocon Tower in Jhandewalan

NEW DELHI: Two labourers fell to death from Videocon Tower at Jhandewalan in Paharganj area of Central Delhi. The two men in their early twenties were rushed to the hospital but were declared brought dead. The incident was reported on Monday afternoon when the labourers both employed with a cleaning company were on the lift used for cleaning the outer galls panes of the building.

"The lift broke when these two were cleaning at the 10th floor, they have been identified as Raju ( 24) and Ishrat Khan ( 25), both were declared brought dead by the hospital. A case of negligence has been registered in this regard," said a senior police officer.

The police were immediately called and the two men were rushed to the hospital. It seems that there was a safety lapse as when the cable of the lift broke the two fell on the ground. The bodies of the two men have been sent for the postmortem. The police are now investigating who was responsible for the safety of the workers and are scrutinising safety standards undertaken by the company with which these two employed.
