Two held with 10 kg heroin worth Rs 40 cr
NEW DELHI: With the arrest of two key members of a notorious drug cartel, a team of Special Cell has busted the inter-national drug syndicate. A total of 10 kg heroin worth more than Rs 40 crore in the international market has been recovered from the two accused, identified as Dhanraj Parjapat, aged 38 years and Wasim Khan (27), both residents of Partapgarh, Rajasthan. A Maruti Ritz Car with Rajasthan number used in transportation of contraband has also been seized. Several mobile handsets and several SIM cards used in the drug trafficking activities have also been recovered from them.
On 25 June, specific information was received by SI Praveen Rathi that two key members of this cartel Dhanraj Prajapat and Wasim Khan would come to supply huge consignment of drugs to their counterpart in Delhi in their Maruti Ritz Car near Max Hospital at Shalimar Bagh. At about 12:20 am, Ritz car was spotted near Kanishka Apartment, near Haiderpur Metro Station, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. Wasim Khan, who was at wheels, tried to flee in his Ritz car but police team managed to stop the car and took out keys of Ritz Car and both Dhanraj Prajapat and Wasim Khan were apprehended. Five kgs of fine quality heroin was recovered from the possession of accused persons and from the secret cavity of Ritz car; further 5 kgs of fine quality heroin was recovered.
The accused Dhanraj and Wasim Khan confirmed that the recovered heroin was delivered to him by one Nazir, a resident of Manipur on the directions of one Babu Khan of Pratapgarh, Rajasthan. It was further revealed by Dhanraj and Wasim Khan that they had been involved in supply of heroin for last 4-5 years. Both used to travel on their vehicle by road to hilly areas of Manipur and Assam especially Shilong to receive heroin from conduits of Nazir. "The car is also being used for the transportation of contraband and a secret cavity beneath rear seat of the car was prepared to conceal the contraband to hoodwink the law enforcement agencies," said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP Special Cells.
