NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested two men from west Delhi's Kirti Nagar area, who robbed Rs 2 crore, including some foreign currency from a businessman's residence.
The arrested men were identified as Daljeet and Jasbir.
Acting on a complaint registered by Rakesh Godara, a resident of Delhi's Saraswati Garden area, a case of robbery of Rs 10,30,000 and some foreign currency was lodged.
Godara suspected that his former servant Rattan may be involved, as he had gone missing after the incident.
Police learnt that the complainant is a permanent resident of Sirsa, Haryana, and ran a business of sale and purchase of goods and commodities imported from foreign suppliers. A month ago, he had employed Rattan, but eventually fired him for his abnormal behaviour and intoxications
On April 12, after returning from Rajasthan, Godara learnt from his business partner Lovely that Rattan had come to Godara's Delhi residence the previous night on the pretext of some work in the city.
Rattan reportedly asked Lovely if he could allow him to stay at Godara'a residence for the night and Lovely granted him permission.
It later emerged that Rattan reportedly got friendly with employees at Godara's house and got them intoxicated.
Once all of them fell asleep, Rattan unbolted the door of the house and let in his accomplices Daljeet and Jasbir.
"Rattan guided them to the place where the Rs 10,30,000 and some foreign currency was kept. Both the accused decamped with the bag and Rattan pretended as if he is unaware of anything," said Vijay Kumar, DCP (West). Cops are now looking for Rattan, who is absconding.
