Two elderly women commit suicide in separate incidents
New Delhi: Two elderly women allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in North West Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area.
Police said in both cases, no foul play has been suspected. Both of them jumped from separate buildings. The investigating agency suspect depression as the reason behind the incidents.
In the first case, a 55-year-old woman died after she jumped from the third floor of the house in Dheerpur area.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west) Vijayanta Arya said that the incident came to light at around 6 am that deceased identified as Kamlesh Devi committed suicide by jumping from the third floor. She was taken to hospital by the family members where she was declared brought dead.
"She was suffering from depression for the last few years. No foul play has been suspected so far," said DCP Arya.
Police claimed that they have questioned family members to gather clues behind the extreme step.
In another case, a 85-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from the third floor in Mukherjee Nagar.
Police identified the deceased as Suman Anand who lived with her family in Vijay Nagar area.
According to the investigating agency, the incident came to light on Sunday afternoon around 1.15 pm. Later, police was informed about the incident.
She was taken to nearby hospitals by the family members where she was declared brought dead. "For the last 9 month, she was suffering from depression. So far, no foul play has been suspected," police said.
Police probe visa fraud
Delhi Police have registered a case on the complaint of US embassy in Chanakyapuri regarding visa fraud. According to police, few persons, with the help of fake documents, tried to obtain US Visa.
