Two arrested for robbing schoolteacher

New Delhi: Two robbers targeted and assaulted a schoolteacher during her commute through the bustling streets of the capital city’s south district on August 14.
The incident unfolded near the Khokha market area, where the teacher was travelling in an autorickshaw. Suddenly, the assailants accosted her, attempting to snatch her mobile phone. This resulted in the teacher being thrown off the autorickshaw, causing injuries.
Recognising the gravity of the situation, the police immediately intervened and rushed the victim to Maxwell Hospital for medical attention.
By the day’s end, the investigative team had successfully apprehended all the robbers involved.
Among those arrested, Satnaraya, also known as Sattu, a 23-year-old Sangam Vihar K Block resident, emerged as the key perpetrator. A search of his residence led to the discovery of a country-made pistol and a live cartridge. Aman, the second accused, aged 22 from Tughlakabad, was also promptly taken into custody.
As the investigation unfolded, an intriguing twist emerged. The stolen mobile phone’s path led to Vichitrapuri alias Ankit. Shockingly, Ankit was already in judicial custody on unrelated charges under sections 107 and 751 of the Criminal Procedure Code, adding complexity to the case.
The investigation revealed a trail of stolen property, including six snatched or stolen mobile phones and seven stolen motorcycles. Additionally, a disconcerting revelation came to light - Sattu’s criminal history included involvement in five previous snatching cases, while Aman had a record of two prior cases.
The accused face charges under the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
