Transport, Mohallah Clinics, CCTVs and new classrooms in AAP govt priority list: Sources
NEW DELHI: Before the 2020 Vidhan Sabha election, the AAP led Delhi government to keep the focus on four key work aspect of the government transport, Mohalla Clinics, CCTVs and new classrooms in the schools. The CM himself will monitor these projects. Sources said that all the departments are being directed to present weekly reports to the concerned ministers of who will then report to the CM.
From the day one after the Model Code of Conduct was lifted the Delhi government led by AAP started the work on the priority issues like installation of CCTV cameras, Mohallah clinics, transport system and building of classroom all over Delhi. According to the sources in the party, keeping in mind the upcoming Vidhan Sabha election in 2020 the government has decided to work on these issues with priority. "Education, health and public transport have been our priority from day one. The work on CCTVs was also in our to-do list from a long time but due to a tussle between Central and state it was delayed," said a senior leader.
Within two weeks the Delhi government announced three major decisions related to the transport department. One was the scheme for free travel for women, notified revised auto fare and also published the long pending draft parking policy for public suggestions. Along with the transport issues the Delhi government also notified a task force to formulate laws in the public transport system in terms of security of women.
In the past few weeks, Deputy CM and Education Manish Sisodia visited the schools and monitored the works in a regular basis. According to the government's decision, cabinet ministers will also review the condition of government hospitals, clinics, schools, etc., and get a first-hand account of their functioning, according to a statement from the Delhi government. In the Vidhan Sabha level every MLA is coordinating with the RWAs to find out the spots were the CCTVs should be installed.
Meanwhile, sources said that the Health Department has initiated interdepartmental talks to find out plots where Mohallah Clinics could be built.
CM Kejriwal has already started his 'padyatras' and public meetings in different parts of Delhi. He conducted 'padyatras' in Deoli and Tuglakabad. Labour Minister Gopal Rai made an inspection at LNJP Hospital and was told that contractual employees there have not received salaries for three months. Rai directed officers to clear the salaries within three days and warned them of strict action if they fail to comply, an official statement stated. Another cabinet minister, Satyendar Jain, who holds the portfolios of PWD, health, urban development among others, inspected GTB Hospital in east Delhi.
