Traffic on some Delhi roads to slow down during Kanwar Yatra
NEW DELHI: With the beginning of the annual Kanwar Yatra elaborate traffic arrangements have been made by Delhi Traffic Police. Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage undertaken by Lord Shiva's devotees, also known as Kanwariyas.
The Kanwariyas visit Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar during Shrawan Mass to fetch holy waters of River Ganga.
In the view of the pilgrimage, Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory and released a list of roads where the vehicular movement will be
affected.
The police have put in place elaborate security arrangements to avoid any inconvenience to the daily commuters.
Traffic movement would be slowed down on the route from Apsara border to National Highway-8.
The route will cover areas like ISBT Flyover, Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Road, Faiz Road, Upper Ridge Road and Dhaulan Kuan.
Traffic on the Route connecting Bhopra Border to New ISBT Bridge in Seelampur will also be affected due to Kanwar Yatra. Areas on this route include Wazirabad Road, Loni Flyover, Gokulpuri T-point, 66 Foota Road and Seelampur T-point
Motorists on the route connecting Maharajpur Border to Badarpur will also traffic disruptions on the route.
Areas on this route include Road no.56, Ghazipur Border, NH-24, Ring Road and Mathura Road.
Traffic movement on Kalindi Kunj to Badarpur Border via Mathura road is likely to slow down.
Similarly, commuters on the route from Kalindi Kunj to MB road via Modi Mill will also face inconvenience.
Delhi Police is extra vigilant this year after a group of kanwariyas vandalised a car in Delhi's Moti Nagar in 2018.
