Top extortionist held after shootout
New Delhi: He ranked amongst the top 10 wanted criminals in Delhi and had a cash reward of one lakh over his arrest.
Paramjit Dalal was infamous of his expertise in kidnapping for extortion of affluent people and the businessmen, financers and other affluent people in outer Outer Delhi specially Bawana, Narela, Kanjhawala and some other adjoining areas were terrified with his criminal activities in the area.
Absconding for 2 years now, he was arrested after a fierce shootout between special cell cops and the criminal on May 7 near Halipad road, sector 24 Rohini. The criminal was hit in his left leg in the shootout.
Earlier Paramjit Dalal with his associates committed brutal murder of a man named Satish in the area of Mianwali, Delhi.
A case was registered and he was arrested. In July-2016, he was released on interim bail for three weeks but he did not return and jumped the bail.
In August 2016, Paramjit with his associates kidnapped Ram Pratap (a property dealer-cum-financer).
Paramjeet and two of his associates wore khaki uniform to impersonate police. They intercepted Monu's car while he was driving back home in the night and kidnapped him.
Initially, they extorted Rs 25 lakh for his release. Later again, they demanded Rs 90 lakh for his release.
All the three associates were arrested in this case, but Paramjeet Dalal was still at large. Initially, a reward of Rs 50,000 was declared by Delhi Police for his arrest but he remained absconding since 2016. Later, the reward was doubled to Rs one lakh. "Paramjit, when confronted by our team, started firing. Two of the bullets, one each, hit the Bullet Proof jacket worn by two constables, due to which they had a lucky escape from a deadly attack. The police team also retaliated and he was shot in the leg and overpowered," said DCP Special Cell Sanjeev Yadav.
