Tokens to be provided to voters in Badshahpur assembly constituency

Gurugram: To ease the voting process and thereby increase the voting percentage, the district administration will experiment by giving a token to voters in certain wards of Gurugram Vidhan sabha seat.

The confirmation of giving the tokens to the voters was recently disclosed by Deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh.

For this process, the district administration has selected certain wards of Badshahpur which is the largest constituency in Gurugram. It is important to note that the process of giving a token is not new in the democratic system in India. It has been earlier been tried in the Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) elections.

Based on the voter slip of the electorate, the election supervisors will give them the token so that they do not have to stand in the line.

A separate waiting room will be given to them so that they can wait. After their number or name is announced the voters can come and select their candidates.

The following process is implemented is among various new experiments that have been tried by the district administration to improve, increase and harness the voting process in the city, the process that started in the General elections.

In the Lok Sabha elections, various new schemes like a selfie with the inked wards, model wards, and pink booths were tried by the district administration.

Moreover, the district administration also actively promoted one of its famous citizen Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli coming out and voting.

"Gurugram district has always voted proactively. In the last General elections, the voting percentage was over 70. We would want this healthy trend to continue. We have provided facilities by enhancing the communication channels so that the eligible voters do not face any hassles," said a senior public official.

For making the voting process comfortable and easy for the women voters there are also plans to deploy all-women employees on the polling booth meant only for women voters.

The impending elections will also lead to the deployment of sizeable forces to ensure safety and security.
