Three months of brutality ends for WB girl
New Delhi: For three months, a 15-year-old girl from West Bengal girl suffered through nightmarish treatment, as she was repeatedly beaten up and even burned for refusing to enter flesh trade.
Fortunately, proactive response by the police of West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh rescued from the clutches slavery in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.
The victim, on Wednesday, told Millennium Post that the two accused, including a woman, used to burn her hands when she did not follow their orders.
"The months in Meerut and then Ghaziabad were the worst, a nightmare for me," said the victim, who was rescued during a late night raid in Sihani Gate area by the two Ghaziabad Police, West Bengal police and NGO Shakti Vahini. Seven persons, including four women, were nabbed.
One of the rescuers said that a man named Sariful trafficked the girl, a resident of Uluberia area of Howrah, on the pretext of marrying here in April.
The girl was then taken to Kolkata and then Uttar Pradesh. There, she was confined in the house of one Bharti and after some days, she was sold to two persons, including a woman, who used to force her into the prostitution.
"The woman used to tell that she will never return home and the girl was sent to eight persons, who sexually assaulted her and thrashed her whenever she refused," the rescuer said.
A West Bengal Police team, led by sub-inspector Piyali Ghosh, and an Alpha team of Ghaziabad Police, led by Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad (City), undertook the operation.
"The breakthrough came when police arrested one of the accused in West Bengal who revealed information about the girl," added the rescuer.
Rishikant, of NGO Shakti Vahini, said, "In this case, we saw a new trend, as the traffickers were not keeping the girls constantly with them. They are sending them to other places so as to dodge police."
