New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of three criminals, who were involved in more than 100 criminal cases across the city. The arrests were made from the central Delhi area on Saturday.
Police said the accused were identified as Shahrukh (19), Shiv Kumar (19) and Faizal Ahmed (20), from whom three country-made pistols with four live cartridges, 16 stolen mobile phones and one motorcycle used in the crime were recovered.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa stated that during questioning, the accused confessed that they used to commit robberies, snatching of mobile phones and valuables from passersby on lonely roads or passengers plying in auto-rickshaws.
"They mainly used to target people in areas of east and central Delhi and would carry deadly weapons to thwart any resistance from the victims. They had committed more than 100 incidents of robbery and snatching and sold the stolen articles to different people," said the DCP.
Police further stated that Shahrukh, who has a drug habit, began committing crimes to pay for his drug fix.
He first procured country-made pistol and formed the gang to commit robberies and snatchings on motorcycle, while Kumar used to assist his father at their grocery shop at Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi.
Kumar had know Shahrukh since childhood and, after some time, he too became addicted to drugs and started committing crime with Shahrukh and Faizal.
