Three members of Gulel gang arrested from Dwarka

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed that it has busted a Gulel (catapult) Gang active in Dwarka district. The gang members used to break the windowpanes of cars with the help of a catapult and then steal the valuables in the car.

Police claimed that the investigation is going on whether the culprits also used juveniles in the crime. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that in the last few months, there were incidents of laptop thefts by breaking the windowpanes of cars in Dwarka.

The area of Dwarka Sub-Division was particularly affected by these incidents. On September 24, a thief of Gulel Gang Suraj was caught redhanded in Sector 12, Dwarka. "He disclosed that after stealing the valuables and laptops, he delivered them to 2-3 persons in Delhi and Punjab," said the DCP.

He further claimed that on September 30, the police nabbed other accused who were in a vehicle. During checking, 17 laptops, 17 mobile phones and 77 SD cards were recovered from the possession of persons sitting in the car.

During the inquiry, the persons were asked to provide the details of laptops and mobiles but they failed to prove the ownership and reason of carrying these items.

During the inquiry, it disclosed that the recovered laptops and mobile phones were stolen from different areas in Delhi NCR. On the basis of recovered stolen property, three accused Bhushan Chhabra (48), Krishna (29) and Dharambir (32) were arrested. Accused Bhushan Chhabra disclosed that he used to come to Delhi every 7-8 days by car and purchased the laptops and mobiles from the Gulel Gang. Nine cases have been worked out with their arrest, the police said. The arrest was made by Dwarka North police station.
