Three killed in two road accidents in Dwarka

New Delhi: Three persons died in two separate road accidents in Dwarka district area on Sunday, with police claiming they have started investigations to nab the accused.
Police said the first incident was reported from Dhul Siras area of Dwarka, where two persons died after their vehicle was hit by an unidentified car.
The deceased were identified as Dharmendra and Ashok, who were returning from office on a motorcycle when the car hit them and fled the spot on Sunday morning.
A PCR call was made and the two were rushed to the hospital where doctors declared them dead. Dharmendra lived in Sagarpur area, while Ashok was a resident of Brahmapuri.
Police have registered a case in this regard and started their investigation.
The second incident was reported from Jaffarpur Kalan area, where a DTC bus conductor working died after being hit by a car.
Police claimed that the incident was reported on Sunday, when Rakesh was returning from work on a motorcycle and was hit by Fortuner car.
The accused fled the spot after the incident, while the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Police claimed they are scanning CCTV footage of the area to get the further clues about the incident.
Over the last nine years, Delhi's roads have witnessed deaths of more than 16,000 people in road accidents, data from Delhi Police has revealed.
The data, accessed by Millennium Post, states that in 2009, as many as 2,325 persons died, while the number was 2,153 in 2010.
2011 saw 2,110 deaths due to road accidents, whereas 1,886 people died in 2012.
In 2013, 1,820 deaths were reported on Delhi's roads, while 2014 and 2015 saw 1,671 and 1,622 deaths, respectively.
In 2016, the number of casualties in road accidents was 1,591 and last year saw more than 1,500 deaths.
