Three held for trying to extort money from businessman

A team of Inter-State Cell, Crime Branch succeeded in apprehending three mischievous gangsters of the 'Nasir' gang.
The accused, Saleem (25), Shahzad (29) and Zakir (24) a resident of Seelampur, Delhi were involved in threatening the witnesses and taking 'protection' money from businessmen.
Following their arrest, one case of attempt to murder of North-East Delhi has been solved. Also, three semi-automatic pistols and seven live cartridges were recovered from their possessions.
There is an on-going gang rivalry between 'Nasir' and 'Chhainu' gangs for domination in the area of trans-Yamuna and old Delhi. Both the gang leaders are presently in jail but are operating their nefarious activities via their local goons.
The cops received information stating that gangster Nasir, presently serving the jail term has been giving instructions to his gang members to threaten the witnesses who were supposed to depose against him and his associates.
Also, it was learnt that these Nasir's associates were involved in taking the protection from the businessmen of trans-Yamuna and old Delhi.
After they planned an attack on a brothel owner, the cops were tipped off and a team constituted nabbed the criminals.
"They had disclosed that the recovered weapons were provided to them by one Azeem, close associates of Nasir and presently lodged in Tihar jail to carry out their illegal activities. In the first week of February 2017, accused Saleem along with his other associates had assaulted and had fired indiscriminately on Saurav and Rakesh (local residents of Welcome, Delhi) who had objected to their illegal activities," said Praveer Ranjan, Joint CP Crime Branch.
