Three days after rape murder of five-yr-old, accused still at large

Following the alleged rape and murder of the five-year-old daughter of a priest in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, heavy police force was deployed in the area to ensure proper state of law and order on Sunday, while the accused is yet to be traced.

On Thursday, the girl had gone missing from her home and was found dead in an under-construction building on Friday night. After being cremated on Saturday, the infuriated local residents demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. The residents, however, turned violent after cops failed to trace the girl on time even after receiving timely information.

The victim's father has accused 19-year-old, Afroz, who reportedly arrived in the area from Bihar 10 days before the incident. Afroz had earlier stayed in the priest's house as a tenant but was asked to leave after a spat.

Residents claimed that Afroz committed the crime to avenge the humiliation.

The father of the deceased, a priest by profession, hails from Gorakhpur. The police have detained the father of the accused person and other relatives to inquire about all the possible hideouts.

"The post-mortem report confirms that the girl was raped before being killed. Three people have been detained by the police and different teams of the police are conducting raids at all the suspected locations to arrest the accused who is absconding," said Salman Taj Patil, Superintendent of Police, Ghaziabad.

Patil also stated that the culprit is a drug addict. "He does not have mobile phone otherwise we would have arrested him by putting his mobile on surveillance. Teams are conducting raids at all the possible locations. We will arrest the culprit at the earliest.

"An FIR has been registered under sections of murder, attempt to rape and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act," added Patil.
