This Women's Day, Shaheen Bagh becomes an inspiration for many

New Delhi: Women of Shaheen Bagh on Sunday celebrated International Women's Day as they continued their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens for Assam (NRC). The Shaheen Bagh protests have stirred a nationwide protest, as it has inspired many women to come on roads and demand the law to be taken back.

"Women of Shaheen Bagh are nothing short of an inspiration. They have collectively started a revolution," said a student of JNU who had come out to support the women of Shaheen Bagh.

In Delhi itself numerous areas saw women coming out and collectively protesting against CAA and NRC. Meanwhile, women of Shaheen Bagh were invited to take out an exhibition of products, where all proceeds from the sale will go to the victims of the Delhi Riots. The dadis of Shaheen Bagh has inspired many people.

"They have been sitting here for months, it is nothing short of awe-inspiring," said Ravinder, who visits the protest site almost everyday.

On the other hand, the protest at Turkman Gate too saw the celebration of International Women's Day with students of various universities becoming a part of the protest.

People believe that the protest has opened up the stereotypes on women and empowerment.

"When the women have been sleeping on roads to save the country, it definitely shows that we still have hope left," said a student of Jamia who was part of the protest.

The women have been sitting in protest at Shaheen Bagh, since December 15 last year. The protest has crossed many hurdles, however, the women sitting in protest have refused to budge and continue to protest.
