Theft case with war veteran in Hauz Khas solved, 3 women held

New Delhi: Three women were arrested on Friday from south Delhi for allegedly robbing a 1971 war veteran of Rs 40,000 inside an ATM kiosk last week.

Police said that the three accused hail from Madhya Pradesh and came to Delhi and other places during festive and marriage seasons. One of the accused was Proclaimed Offender (PO).

On October 3, a 76-year-old retired Army captain had lodged a complaint stating that he found out that Rs 40,000 had been stolen from his pocket while he was withdrawing money from the

ATM.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said that during the investigation, CCTV footage of the place of the incident was scrutinized in which two women were noticed standing near the

complainant.

During verification, another incident of jewellery theft from a lady having a photograph was revealed in which the same accused was noticeable.

Three women were arrested on the basis of information that they would come in a park of Sector-5 in Pushp Vihar.

The accused claimed that hail from Madhya Pradesh and came to Delhi and other places during festive and marriage seasons.

They visited Banks, ATM's, shops during rush hours, busy markets and crowded places and look for prospective targets.

"They stole money and jewellery from woman handbags, purse, wallet and pockets. Women and elderly persons were easy targets for them. They confessed to their involvement in the case of Hauz Khas and KM Pur police stations," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP South) Atul Kumar
