Teen wipes out entire family, disguises it as failed robbery

New Delhi: In a shocker reported on Wednesday morning in the Capital, a 19-year-old youth murdered his parents and his younger sister in Vasant Kunj in south west Delhi.

Delhi Police said that the teenager had initially tried to misguide investigators and neighbours by claiming that two robbers had murdered his family and fled the spot in the morning.

However, as the house had been locked from the inside when the accused let his neigbours in after raising an alarm, cops doubted his version of events.

Eventually. 15 hours later, cops nailed Suraj for his lies and arrested him for the murdering his father Mithilesh (45), his mother Siya (40) and his sister Neha (16).

Sources said that the three were found brutally stabbed in their house. He had raised an alarm from the balcony for help and tried to pass it off as a robbery gone awry.

However, when the neighbours rushed in, Suraj himself had opened the locked door, and he just had minor bruises on his hands.

Unconvinced by Suraj's theory, cops called a forensic team to gather evidence of forced entry into the house. The dog squad was also pressed into action, but the canines found not signs of forced entry either.

Police also inspected CCTV footage of the neighbourhood and found no outsiders entering the house, which made the son prime suspect by evening.

"He was doing engineering and was fed up by persistent nagging of his parents to study and mend his ways, He has confessed to his crime. We have also seized the weapon of offence, a knife and a scissor. Our team verified it from the place of purchase," said Devender Arya, DCP (South West).

Sources said that some years back, Suraj had also masterminding his own kidnapping and was found from Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh.

He had been in bad company and was fond of hukka Cops said he purchased the knife from Mehrauli and meticulously planned the murder.

He first stabbed his sleeping father late on Tuesday night, then moved on to his mother and sister and stabbed them to death.

Mithilesh was a private contractor by profession, while Neha was a Class XI student.

Suraj was arrested around 8.30 pm on Wednesday, said a police official.
