Teachers come out on street to press their demands

New Delhi: Hundred of teachers took to the street of Delhi to protest to demonstrate their demand ' a free and affordable education and dignified employment' and to reserve the right of education for everyone. Around 55 per cent teachers posts for reserved category candidates are lying vacant in various universities, which has not been filled by the institutions for a long time, said a report by all India Universities and Colleges SC, ST, OBC Teachers Association.

Though the University Grants Commission has repeatedly asked colleges to fill vacant posts, it has not been done yet. "Implement reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC/PWD scrupulously to ensure that constitutionally-mandated percentages of reservation are met in admissions and appointments at all levels by bringing ordinance on 200 point University/ Colleges based," said in press statement.
