'Tatto' on chest helps family identify body
NEW DELHI: The dead body of a 37-year-old missing person has been identified by his family members by a tattoo of a name, 'Mumtaz' inscribed on his chest on Thursday. The man went missing since February 23 when north-east violence broke out. The man was a resident of Chand Bagh. The body was handed over to his family after proper verifications. The family says that the deceased Sikander was a bus conductor and was mostly on the move and visited his sister in every eight to 10 days.
"Sikander had a name inscribed on his chest. It was 'Mumtaz' and I immediately recognised my brother's body in the mortuary. It was heartening to see him dead. He was missing since 23 February and we didn't hear from him since then," said his brother.
Sikander last visited his sister on February 23 and asked for Rs 100 for food.
"I handed him the money. He kept visiting me but I failed to hear from him since that day," his sister said.
North-east Delhi witnessed worst riots which started on February 23. More than 50 people have lost their lives in the violence, which saw the property of several crores of people being burnt and ransacked.
