Take necessary steps to make amenities more purposeful: SDMC Mayor to officers

New Delhi: SDMC Mayor Sunita Kangra on Tuesday took round of Issapur ward. She visited 14 villages to interact with the local residents and listen their grievances. She instructed the officers present on the site to take necessary steps to make the amenities being provided by the SDMC more pointed and purposeful.

The Mayor further stated that she has been keeping a close eye over the action being taken on her instructions so that the amenities could be made more advanced.

The Mayor also reviewed the status of sanitation in the villages and asked the officers and employees of the DEMS to bring an improvement in sanitation services. She stressed upon the need of providing more focus on sanitation activities during rainy season to avoid breeding of mosquitoes. She also underlined the need of completing de-silting work of all drains before the onset of monsoon.

The Mayor made it clear that un-confirmed data on de-silting will not be accepted and the officers responsible for this will have to give explanation. The incomplete de-silting not only brings difficulties to the people but also become responsible for health problems. The Mayor stated that she will conduct surprise check to assess the status of de-silting of drains.

The Mayor expressed her deep concern over ongoing illegal constructions and stated that any activity to encourage illegal construction will not be tolerated. "There is a need to ensure planned development in rural areas so that the SDMC could face no obstacles in providing amenities in rural areas," she said. She inspected the ongoing development of parks in the village. She stated that the villagers also deserve to enjoy beautiful, lush green and developed parks on the lines of such parks in the urban areas.
