Agitated over lack of civic amenities in their area, the residents of Sushant Lok – Phase 1 have hit the streets again.
This is for the second time in less than two months that the residents of Sushant Lok are protesting over their civic woes. Highlighting the lack of attention paid by Ansals, who are in charge of maintenance facilities in Sushant Lok, the residents again demanded for the colony to be transferred under Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).
Residents criticised the delaying tactics adopted by the MCG in taking possession of the colony.
In a stern warning to MCG officials, the protesting residents have said that they will boycott the upcoming MCG elections if no action is taken by the MCG in addressing their grievances.
The residents of Sushant Lok have been complaining for long over the poor condition of roads, non-functional street lights and poor garbage disposal system in the area.
Even though the complaint has been forwarded to the Chief Minister Complaint window, the protesting residents highlighted that there has been no improvement in the conditions.
"It seems that both the private builders and the government agencies are taking the citizens of Sushant Lok for granted. At present, residents are subjected to unbelievable conditions. The roads are in dilapidated conditions, there are non-functional street lights and inconsistent water supply. With time, the situation has only worsened. Today, no one can claim that Sushant Lok is one of the posh areas of the city," said Rashmi Malik, a resident.

"The state government has directed the MCG to take over the maintenance of private colonies. Yet, the MCG is delaying the process and are making the residents suffer. It has been more than a year since we were told that the MCG will be taking over the colonies but there has been no action as yet," added Malik.
