'Suraksha Bandhan' to rein in errant motorists
Gurugram: With the aim of promoting brotherhood among citizens and to observe the festival of Raksha Bandhan, women personnel of Gurugram police were on Sunday seen tying rakhis on the wrists of traffic offenders, as part of the 'Suraksha Bandhan' initiative.
A large number of policewomen were seen in various areas, including Huda City Centre, MG Road and Sohna Road.
According to Gurugram Police offcials, the initiative was successful as it created a friendly rapport between commuters and police officials
To deter motorists in Gurugram from breaking the traffic rules, the police once again brought the unique concept to commemorate Raksha Bandhan. As part of 'Suraksha Bandhan', Gurugram's women cops tie rakhis on offenders and advise them to obey the traffic rules.
A more strict approach by law enforcement officials has mostly caused a sour relationship between traffic police personnel and commuters. Senior officials believe programmes like Suraksha Bandhan is a great opportunity for the police to develop a friendly relationship with commuters, and still be firm in advising them to not violate rules and regulations.
Gurugram Police has also planned various other activities in the coming days to increase traffic awareness.
