'Students key in spreading Swachhta awareness'

NEW DELHI: Lauding the efforts of students of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) schools, who had participated in 60 hours internship programme during the Swachhta Summer Internship, 2018, NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar said that the interns could play a pivotal role in spreading the Swachhta mission among other people.

Speaking at the valedictory function of internship programme at charkha museum in Connaught Place, Kumar said that NDMC had organised the programme from June 28. It was aimed at inspiring and involving the youth and familiarising them with sanitation work, and amplifying mass awareness on cleanliness as part of Swachh Bharat Mission.

He added that the interns conducted door-to-door awareness drives on segregation of waste at source, bio-waste recycling and composting across the communities, and interacted with the residents of New Delhi area.

As many as 106 students of the NDMC and DPS schools had enrolled themselves for the internship.
