Student killed, another injured in road mishap

A 22-year-old student of Sharda University lost his life following a road accident on Thursday night. Another student, who was travelling with him, was seriously injured after the scooter they were on was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Kasna area.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Chaudhary, who was pursuing Mass Communication at the University. The other student has been identified as Shubham, a student of Bachelor of Architecture at the same University. Rahul belonged to Kolkata, while Shubham is a native of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

"The incident took place around 8 pm, near the Holy Public School roundabout, when they were going back to their home in Nimbus Apartments. They were hit by a vehicle, which is yet-to-be identified. The impact of the collision was such that they fell into the drain along the road. Some passers-by informed the police about the accident," said Sudhir Tyagi, SHO Kasna.

"The two were rescued from the drain and rushed to Yatharth Wellness hospital in Greater Noida, where Rahul was declared dead during treatment and Shubham's condition was declared stable after treatment. We will undertake investigations to find the vehicle, which fled immediately after the accident," added Tyagi.
