Stay calm while dealing with protestors, policemen told

New Delhi: 'Stay calm, be composed, and use proper language'. This is what Delhi police personnel have been advised by their senior officers whenever there is any protest being held in the city.
According to police, the personnel who are deployed during protest even been advised to use language full of etiquettes like ma'am and sir, with the protestors. "There should be no use of any offensive language with the protestors," said an official of the Delhi Police.
The officer said that the behaviour of the personnel with the protestors will be monitored by senior police official.
In Central Delhi area, a training has been given to the police personnel about how to deal with the protestors in which women police personnel also participated. "Police personnel should be polite as well as firm," said Anto Alphonse, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Central Delhi).
The police personnel have been taught about formation which is most important during any protest and there are chances protestors provoked them, but still they should remain calm. The women police personnel were also trained how to tackle women protestors. They have been told to use proper protection during the protest. Another major things included proper barricading during the protest at right point so that the protestors can be stopped.
According to Delhi Police data, there were 3521 dharnas in the National Capital whereas the street of the city witnessed 1586 demonstrations, 751 meetings and 320 processions were carried out. There were also 595 programmes of strikes and 443 rallies and marches were there. More than 2000 programmes were miscellaneous.
Police claimed that in 2017, no law and order situation was allowed to escalate during protests in the national capital.
