St Stephen's college cuts SC/ST reservation in teacher's post

New Delhi: Delhi University Teachers forum on Wednesday filed a complaint against non reservation of vacant posts for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories in St. Stephens and Mata Sundari College for Women.

Colleges like St Stephens and Mata Sundari college for women have taken out vacancies for teachers of various posts but have no reservations for SC and OBC

categories.

In a letter, DU professor and Chairman of the teacher's forum Hansraj Mehta said,

"Advertisement for the posts of Assistant Professor in various departments have been released. According to the advertisement, the posts of Assistant Professor have been removed, in which no reservation was given to SC, ST, OBC sections in any department. This is a gross violation of the reservation policy of the Central Government and is also unconstitutional."

According to the documents, vacany for a total of 84 post have been released by Mata Sundari College for Women, however, according to the law 42 posts are made of SC, ST, OBC quota.

"But the college has not given no reservation in any department," said a statement by Mehta. Mehta has demanded the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes that if he does not act soon in the context of the advertisement, the college will fill these posts.

"The principals of both the colleges should be called and asked that they give their SC, ST, OBC candidates. Why do not want to give reservation to the posts of assistant professor. The demand for social justice for the students has been reiterated so that they get their constitutional rights," said

Mehta.
