Son kills parents who opposed love affair, drug habit

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday claimed they have arrested a 26-year-old man and his associate who killed his parents in South-East Delhi's Jamia Nagar area after they opposed his relationship with his girlfriend.
The law enforcement agency claimed that the accused had hired a person for Rs 2.5 lakh to kill his parents. The accused was identified as Abdul Rehman and his associate as Nadeem Khan. Police have sent its teams to arrest another associate named Guddu.
The incident was reported on April 28, when Shamim Ahmed (55) and his wife Taslim Bano (50) were found dead in their residence in Jamia Nagar.
Enquiries were conducted and the statements of the relatives including the accused Abdul Rehman, were also recorded but no foul play was suspected by anyone. The post-mortem report of both the deceased revealed "Asphyxia due to smothering" as the reason of their death.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that earlier, the accused son Abdul Rehman confronted the police questioning with such an ease that no one could have raised suspicion over him. But later he confessed his involvement in the murder of his own parents to meet the needs of his girlfriend and to meet expenses of his drug habits. "Rehman, who was married for the past 18-month but divorced, stated that he had completed a diploma in animation and earlier used to work in a call centre. In 2016, he got friendly with one girl from Kanpur through Facebook and later wanted to marry her which was opposed by his parents," said the DCP.
