In the wake of the recent floods that inundated several parts of Delhi, the story of Raja Singh, a 45-year-old auto driver, has captured the attention of many.

While countless people stepped forward to lend a helping hand to the flood-affected families, Singh’s selfless efforts stood out as he spearheaded the Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji Sewa Trust, distributing food near Akshardham, Yamuna, Laxmi Nagar, Mayur Vihar phase 1, and other flood-hit areas daily.

The remarkable journey of the Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji Sewa Trust can be traced back to three decades ago when Raja Singh’s father, Harjander Singh, started the Bhai Ghanhaiya Ji Sewa Trust when he was just 20 years old.

At the age of 28, Singh joined his father’s mission and has been carrying on his father’s legacy ever since. Despite his primary occupation as an auto driver, his commitment to serving the community remains unwavering. Running solely on crowdfunding, the trust has managed to extend its reach and impact the lives of many. With the support of his family and a dedicated team of 15 members, Singh orchestrates the distribution of food to the flood-affected families. The trust’s operations are not confined to a single location, as he ensures that food reaches the needy across the city.

Though the food is predominantly prepared by Singh and his family, he occasionally places orders with local establishments such as Punjabi Dhaba and Shri Ram Dhaba to meet the rising demand.

Sundays hold special significance for the trust, as the 45-year-old dedicates this day to distributing food in prominent areas like Bangla Sahab and Patel Square in Delhi. Such strategic planning allows for maximum outreach and ensures that the aid reaches those who need it most. His devotion to serving the less fortunate is a testament to the profound impact that individuals can make when driven by compassion and dedication. Despite facing financial constraints, Singh and his family have made it their mission to uplift the lives of flood-affected families and alleviate their suffering.
