So far 3,500 students secured admission in second cut-off

New Delhi: With many prominent colleges of Delhi University coming up with the second cut-off list for their most coveted courses and giving a host of students a glimmer of hope, students trooped in from all over the country to either withdraw or take admissions in a college or a course of their choice. But online portal reportedly continued to create problems for applicants on Monday, with many aspirants complaining that they were not being able to submit their admission fee online.

"On the basis of the second cut-off, I took admission in History (Hons) at Kirori Mal College. But I have been unable to pay the fee. Initially, the fee payment tab was missing, and later, the link said 'principal's approval needed," said Pinaki Borah from Assam. Another aspirant, Mukesh Kanna, who completed his formalities at the SRCC for admission to BCom (Hons), also had to struggle while paying fee. "When I opened the payment page, there were options for choosing the mode of payment, but when I clicked on it, nothing showed up," he said.

Moreover, most of the parents and their wards thronged the colleges at South Campus or outside the campus to cancel their admission, as they got the admission in North Campus or in preferred course.

"We were here at 9 am sharp and only managed to withdraw admission from Kirori Mal College at 11 am after which we came here and completed our admission process in half an hour," said Prabhanshu Singh, after taking admissions in Hindu College as he grabbed the seat in the second cut-off list for BCom (Hons).

She added that her friends who managed to make the cut-off withdrew admissions from Kiorimal College and came to take admissions at Hindu College but could not meet the additional eligibility criteria and so they had to rush to Hans Raj College.

"It took me three days to complete the admission process at Kirori Mal College and when I met the second list in Hindu College, it was another task withdrawing and taking my documents. Here, it is better organised, but if I meet the cut-off at Shri Ram College of Commerce then I would again move," said Anmol Parashar, applicant.

However, there were some who were opting out of the college because they met the cut-off at a college nearby home or had a better course option. "I have the option of Mathematics (Honours) now at Lady Shri Ram College, which is closer to my home, so I am withdrawing admissions from Hindu College though it is a North Campus college," said Nandini Mehra, who had 96.5 percent marks.

Long queues were again seen at Ramjas College on Monday. "My father is at Gargi College to withdraw my admission and collect my documents, while my mother and I came to take admission here," said Gargi, who had scored 96.2 percent marks and wanted Botany (Honours) at Ramjas.

According to an official, nearly 2, 400 admissions have been cancelled against the second cut-off, whereas total admission has touched around 16, 000. After the second cut-off on first day, nearly 3,500 admissions taken while 5000 admission were approved.
