The Delhi BJP's decision to field new faces in Municipal elections may backfire as the sitting councillors do not agree with the move.
Majority of the BJP councillors, defying the party's decision, have hinted either to contest elections independently or to form a separate party.
According to sources, as many as 118 councillors of BJP on Tuesday held several rounds of meeting at Civic Headquarters and Delhi BJP office Pant Marg in an attempt to get the tickets.
These councillors are thinking of forming a new party or approaching other parties to join them.
However, most of the parties like Swaraj India and AAP have already announced their candidates.
Also, a large number of councillors had met national BJP President Mr Amit Sah and raised the issue before him, saying that it was unfair to deny tickets to all.
"We told him that the decision to give tickets should be done based on merit. Why will people work, if the party refuses to acknowledge their work," said a councillor.
He also mentioned that in response Mr Sah said, "party had taken the decision to bring 70 to 80 percent new faces but the MLA insisted to not to give tickets to any of the sitting councillors."
