Shah accuses AAP of stalling Delhi's development; CM dares him to debate
New Delhi: BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of telling "lies, boldly and publicly", and accused him of stalling development work in the Capital.
The Chief Minister, in turn, refuted Shah's allegations and challenged him to a public debate over the issue.
Speaking at the Poorvanchal Mahakumbh rally organised here at Ramlila Maidan, Shah said, "The Narendra Modi government gave over Rs 50,000 crore to the Delhi government. But look at the promises that you made to people and tell how many promises have been fulfilled."
"Kejriwal's only mantra is to speak lies, speak it loudly, boldly and publicly," the BJP chief said, adding that it seemed the Delhi government lacks vision for the development.
Countering the allegations, the Chief Minister challenged Shah to a public debate at Ramlila Maidan on the performance of BJP-led Centre versus the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government.
Hours later, Kejriwal, on Twitter, responded to certain claims and allegations made by Shah at the Ramlila Maidan rally,
"Amit Shah ji, our Delhi government has done 10 times more work than what Modi ji has done during last four years. On the other hand, look at the anti-people and wrong deeds of Modi ji, we have not indulged in even a single act of that kind. I challenge you, come let us have a public debate at the Ramliia Maidan in front of the people of Delhi," Kejriwal said on his Twitter handle.
On Shah's claim that the Modi government had allocated three times more money to Poorvanchal regions of the country in the 14th Finance Commission, as compared to what the Congress-led government had in the 13th Finance Commission, Kejriwal responded on Twitter, "Amit Shah ji, how much money did your government provide to Delhi in the 14th Finance Commission? Merely Rs 325 crore? People of Poorvanchal reside in Delhi also. Why did your government not provide money for their development? Why this discrimination against Poorvanchalis living in Delhi ?"
Kejriwal reminded Shah about BJP's role in Delhi, saying,"People of Delhi had given merely two works – policing and sanitation – and your party has proved to be a disaster in both. Neither have you been able to keep Delhi clean nor have you been able to perform policing functions properly.
"We were given the responsibility of electricity, water, education and health by the people of Delhi and our performance in these sectors is being lauded the world over," Kejriwal stated.
