SDMC to raise manpower for upkeep of toilets, urinals

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to deploy adequate manpower for cleaning and upkeep of its toilets, urinals, community toilets complexes (CTCs), complex blocks, including 40 public toilets constructed recently.
SDMC Mayor Narender Chawla, after soliciting approval for the proposal, said the need for additional manpower was felt since the public toilets and CTCs will now remain open for all seven days of week, instead of six days.
Manpower services (unskilled) will also be hired for keeping toilets and urinals clean. Presently, 300 workers are deployed for maintenance and upkeep of toilets blocks, urinals blocks and CTCs, and the number has been decided to be raised to 450.
"The additional manpower is required keeping in view the Swachh Bharat Mission. The request for deployment of additional manpower was being received from the zones. The Corporation is confident that formal approval from the SDMC general house will soon be accorded. The additional manpower will go a long way in proper cleanliness and maintenance of toilets, urinals and to earn better ranking in Swachh Sarvekshan," Chawla said.
