SDMC to present Nigam Teachers Award to six principals, 29 teachers

New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Wednesday announced that it will present the Nigam Teachers Award to six school principals, 26 primary school teachers, two nursery teachers and one special physical teacher during the upcoming Teacher's Day celebrations.

The SDMC, in a statement, said that the Education Department recognises the contribution of teachers towards the education of children and that these awards are being presented for their outstanding work in the field of education. The municipality also said that teachers need as much encouragement and support from the community as possible to feel that their hard work is appreciated.

The SDMC will celebrate Teacher's Day at the Satya Sai International Centre in Lodhi Road, where the Nigam Teachers Award will be presented. The awardees will be given Rs 10,000 and a memento and certificate in recognition of their valuable contribution in teaching and their dedicated contribution to the overall development of the students.

The awardees have been selected in a procedure where Zonal Heads evaluate teachers, SDMC officials inspect the teachers' work and a committee finally recommends names for the awards. The awardees are selected through a

selection procedure which comprises evaluation by Zonal Heads, inspection by Officers and evolution of files of nominees by duly constituted Committee.
