SDMC reduces composition charges for hawkers, vendors
New Delhi: After the Standing Committee meeting on Friday, South Delhi Municipal Corporation said that composition fee and other charges in respect of goods seized from hawkers and squatters have been drastically reduced.
Overall, a reduction of 60 to 80 per cent has been granted to traders, hawkers and squatters, whose wares were seized during the anti-encroachment drive.
SDMC Standing Committee chairperson Shikha Rai said that for hawkers and squatters, composition charge has been reduced from Rs 1,500 to Rs 600. For shopkeepers, it has been brought down from Rs 3,000 to Rs 1000. Composition charge on transport companies, timber merchants and heavy machinery dealers has been reduced from Rs 15,000 to Rs 10,000. Composition charge for workshop repair of cars has been reduced from Rs 7,500 to Rs 3,000. In case of unlicensed rehris, it has been brought down from Rs 6,000 to Rs 2,500. For unlicensed rehris selling juice, it has been reduced from Rs 7,500 to Rs 3,000. Composition charge on water trollies is down from Rs 20,000 to Rs 15,000.
Rai added that charges for removal of seized articles have also been reduced substantially.
The rates for loads up to 40 kg has been reduced from Rs 750 to Rs 300. For load above 40 kg and up to one quintal, it is down to Rs 800 from Rs 1,500. For loads between one and five quintal, it is down to Rs 1,000 from Rs 2,000, and for loads above five quintal, the rate has been brought down from Rs 5,000 to Rs 2,000.
