SDMC opens adventure park at Safdarjung Enclave for kids

South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) dedicated country's first woodland adventure park to children in a function organised at Safdarjung Enclave on Thursday. The 'Woodland Adventure Park' has been developed in an area of 500 square meters at a cost of Rs 18 lakh. The park has been provided with fibre-made zebra, giraffe, tiger, deer, bunny rabbit, lion and baby tiger apart from a number of birds tied up at the trees.
Standing Committee Chairman of SDMC, Shailender Singh Monti while addressing the gathering said: "SDMC has started giving shape to the adventure park after providing the facilities of open gyms of gazebo and swings. A large number of children thronged to the adventure park to feel the happy moments by climbing over the hanging bridge, animals and spending time play several games.
"The bridge, made of a number of wooden planks, has been connected with ropes. Children enjoyed their short journey on the bridge. Nine more adventure parks will be developed in the various parks of the SDMC. The woodland adventure park has become a permanent place of amusement for children from Delhi and other states. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights organised a painting competition for the children exhorting them to draw pictures disseminating the need of protecting nature," he said.
Standing Committee Chairman SDMC, Shailender Singh, Chairman South zone Satender Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner Meeta Singh, deputy Commissioners S K Singh and Mona Sriniwas, an eminent social worker Renu Singh, Director Horticulture Alok Singh and other senior officers of the education department were present on this occasion.
