SDMC instructs Hyatt to stop charging fee for parking

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Wednesday said that Hotel Hyatt had agreed not to charge parking fee henceforth from its visitors.

The Corporation also will enforce its instructions regarding free parking in the malls, hospitals and hotels.

SDMC Standing Committee chairperson Shikha Rai said that the Corporation had received a complaint from an eminent personality stating that Hotel Hyatt was charging hefty parking charges and has also been issuing parking slips.

Rai, along with senior SDMC officials, visited the hotel and saw that drivers were being issued parking slips against payment of Rs 200 each.

She asked the hotel manager to implement the instructions regarding free parking issued by the Corporation.

"It has become mandatory for the management of hotels, malls and hospitals to offer free parking in the basements to the visitors in lieu of additional FAR allowed by SDMC to them," she said.

The hotel management claimed that Rs 200 is being charged only for the valet service and not for the parking.
