SDMC gears up to fight air pollution, issues 302 challans

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Sunday carried out a pollution drive to check on removal of malba from public places and PWD roads that causes dust pollution. Apart from this, chalans were issued against burning waste, rubber and plastic in all four zones. "In south zone around 209 cubic tone is removed with the help of 24 tempos and 38 trolleys," said a statement by SDMC.

SDMC claimed it has issued about 302 challans amounting upto Rs 27,55, 000. "69 challans are issued by the night patrolling teams for dumping malba, burning of leaves etc and 15 challans issued for causing dust plloution by constrution sites," said the statement. SDMC has geared up and taken stringent actions to fight air pollution. "Further, the zones have also been taking action against throwing refuse into drains, challans on violation of SWM by laws apart from issuing general challans," said SDMC.
