SDMC deploys huge manpower to control air and dust pollution

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has deployed a huge manpower to control air and dust pollution near stadium situated in Central Zone of the civic body ahead of scheduled T20 cricket match in Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.

The civic body has taken a slew of measures including 12 water sprinklers and 10 mechanical sweepers to control dust pollution. Besides, the civic body has also deployed approx 50 safai karamcharis to ensure sanitation and cleanliness to combat dust pollution. The move came after Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) declared a public health emergency in the Delhi in the wake of rising level of pollution.

As per the instructions of the Commissioner, patrolling teams have been constituted to take instant action against violators in the areas around the stadium, the civic body said in a statement. "The Licensing department has been authorised to take strict action against burning of garbage, construction activities, 'Construction and Demolition' waste dumping etc," it said.
