SDMC carries out sanitation activities in 51 markets

New Delhi: Intensifying their ongoing drive "Swachhta Hi Sewa", South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Thursday carried out sanitation activities in as many as 51 markets situated in the Central, South and West zones. During these drives, traders, citizens and Safai Karamcharis in large number joined their hands in removing waste from the roads, lanes, footpaths and open areas. Apart from this, they disseminated awareness on Swachhta and message against the use of plastic bags. A number of councilors were also present on this occasion.

"The traders were told that they will get benefit due to footfall of more customers in the market after the markets become clean and beautiful. This will also help in the expansion of their trade. Swachhta is a mandatory component in developing clean and safe atmosphere, hence, it is important to invest time everyday in Swachhta related activities. The cleanliness also prevents diseases and help in keeping people healthy and active," the corporation officials said.

The special sanitation drives were also organised at five places wherein hundreds of citizen and sanitation employees and citizens contributed in making their localities clean. The drives were organised at Bharthal Village Chowk, Smalkha Red Light to NH-8, Mahipalpur Chowk to Smalkha, Shiv Mandir Mangla Puri Village & Palam Fly Over and Main Jharodan Kalan Road.
