Scuffle over dead rat thrown outside his house claims man
New Delhi: A man was bludgeoned to death with a heavy object in outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area, with police saying on Friday that the murder allegedly took place over a dead rat thrown outside the victim's residence.
Cops said that the incident came to light on October 2, when a scuffle erupted between the victim Chandrika Prasad Chourasiya and his neighbour, who allegedly threw a dead rat outside Chourasiya's house.
Explaining the sequence of events, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Seju P Kuruvilla told Millennium Post that after seeing the dead rodent, Chourasiya went to his neighbour's house and started an argument, which soon turned into a full-blown scuffle.
"The accused hit the victim in back side of the head, after which he was taken to the hospital. We got the information from the hospital and reached the spot, where the victim died," said Kuruvilla, adding that they have detained the suspect in the case.
This is not the first murder over trivial issue reported in the Capital this year. In August, a 23-year-old youth was stabbed to death in Dwarka after he refused to give a bidi to the accused for free.
Delhi Police data, accessed by Millennium Post, claimed that till September 15, around 337 murders were reported in the city.
Personal enmity has been the motive for murder in 19.29 per cent of these cases, while in 18.69 per cent cases, the reason was sudden provocation.
