Bribery charge: Saket SHO dismissed from service
New Delhi: A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the Station House Officer (SHO) of Saket police station, the Delhi Police on Wednesday dismissed him from the service. The law enforcement agency also sent inspector (ATO) to the district police lines as he was also booked by the top investigating agency of the country.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya confirmed the news and told Millennium Post that the action was taken after enquiry and inspector Sanjay Sharma posted in Hauz Khas police station has been sent to district police lines.
Police sources said that soon after the arrest, the senior officials of the district held meetings and investigation was conducted. On Wednesday, a message was sent to the Delhi Police senior officials which claimed that consequent to the arrest of SHO Saket Neeraj Kumar by the CBI, after conducting a preliminary enquiry by Delhi police wherein he was found involved in case of moral turpitude (conduct that is considered contrary to community standards of justice, honesty, or good morals) and grave professional misconduct he has been dismissed from service under article 311 of the constitution of India.
Apart from Kumar, an advocate identified as Neeraj Walia has also been arrested. The CBI has registered FIR against nine accused –eight individuals and the company Unitech Ltd as Kumar was taking money from the private firm for the settlement of cases registered against directors and owners.
The prime investigating agency also booked Ramesh Chandra (Unitech founder), Ajay Chandra, Upma Chandra, Seema Manga, Pradeep Kumar and Unitech Limited and others. On July 25, the SHO had contacted Walia for the payment of the regular undue advantage who in furtherance to this conspiracy contacted one Seema Manga in the case to deliver the payment of the illegal gratification for further delivery to the SHO. On July 27, another officer Sanjay also contacted the advocate for the payment.
Manga further contacted Upma Chandra regarding the demands made by the public servants. The CBI further learnt that on July 27, Ramesh Chandra had directed to deliver the Rs 2 lakh to the SHO. Ajay Chandra directed his wife Upma to contact the police officer for getting cases against Unitech Limited closed in lieu of illegal gratification being regularly paid to him. Through Pradeep Kumar (employee in Unitech), the regular payment demanded by the public servants was delivered to the advocate to further deliver to the policemen as their convenience on July 31.
