Red Zones: No new Covid cases from 3 major areas in last 15 days, says Jain
New Delhi: Even as the number of Containment zones reached 66, no new Covid-19 cases from about three areas were reported till Friday. These include areas, like Dilshad Garden, which had the highest number of cases initially.
Speaking on the same Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, "No case has been reported in last 15 days from three locations in the national capital, including Dilshad Garden."
Jain's comments come from 'Operation Shield' that is being conducted in areas from where Covid-19 cases are reported. Areas in districts where six or more people have tested positive for coronavirus are identified as "hotspots". The areas are recognized based on the assessment of risk factors, probability of high degree of virus spread and whether people are taking the lockdown seriously.
The list of 'containment zones' in Delhi raised to 66 include areas of L-2 Sangam Vihar, Streets no. 26 & 27 Tughalkhabad Extension, C-105, Hari Nagar, B-33 Hari Nagar, C-785 Camp no. 2 Nagloi and RZ-168, K-2 Block Nihal Vihar.
According to an expert while a hotspot is converted into a containment zone, a containment zone need not always be a hotspot. The authorities declare some lanes or neighbourhoods as containment zone even if it has one case, but it is declared a hotspot particularly when more than 6 cases appear.
In areas like Dwarka sector-11, Bengali Colony, Bengali Market no new cases have emerged but they are still considered in the containment zone. "Everyone was tested negative in our society," said a resident of containment zone in Dwarka. In Bengalo Colony as well no new cases have emerged while people are in strict quarantine. The neighbouring areas are also regularly sanitized.
Meanwhile, the head constable at Bara Hindu Rao police station has tested positive for COVID-19 whereas two other police personnel quarantined.
