Red Fort secured, enhanced security measures in place

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has implemented extensive security measures around Red Fort and its surrounding areas in preparation for Republic Day celebrations. For the past week, officers have been on 24-hour vigil, ensuring safety and order for one of the nation’s most prominent events.
A key component of the enhanced security is the installation of 115 new surveillance cameras, augmenting the 567 cameras already monitoring the vicinity.
These advanced systems include Automatic Number-Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, Facial Recognition Cameras (FRC), and Video Analytics Cameras.
The technology provides round-the-clock surveillance, enabling precise monitoring and rapid response to potential security threats.
In addition to the technological upgrades, the police have conducted six comprehensive mock drills simulating anti-terrorist and bomb scenarios.
These exercises were carried out in locations such as Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Town Hall in Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, and Jama Masjid.
Anti-sabotage checks have also been meticulously performed in these areas to preempt any untoward incidents.
Recognising the critical need for secure perimeters along the Republic Day parade route, authorities have verified the backgrounds of residents living in houses located on the route, which concludes at Red Fort. This step aims to eliminate potential vulnerabilities and ensure the safety of participants and attendees. The security apparatus also includes the deployment of paramilitary forces. Four companies have been stationed around Red Fort, while one more company will be assigned on the day of Republic Day. The areas of Chandini Chowk and Kashmere Gate both are under heightened security, reflecting the authorities’ proactive measures.
Speaking about the preparations, North DCP Raja Banthia said, “Our primary objective is to ensure a safe and seamless Republic Day celebration. Advanced technology and rigorous drills are part of our strategy to address any security concerns. We are working closely with all stakeholders to maintain peace and order.”
The security arrangements underline a multi-layered strategy designed to protect the public, dignitaries, and the historic Red Fort, which serves as a focal point for the Republic Day celebrations.
The combination of technology, manpower, and procedural checks demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to preemptive action against potential threats. With Republic Day drawing near, the meticulous planning reflects the dedication of the Delhi Police to safeguarding the event, which holds immense national significance.
The stepped-up security measures ensure not only the smooth conduct of the celebrations but also peace of mind for citizens participating in or attending the festivities.
By deploying advanced surveillance systems, conducting rigorous drills, and engaging paramilitary support, the Delhi Police has implemented one of the most comprehensive security setups in recent years.
