Rains lash Delhi-NCR, traffic thrown out of gear
New Delhi: Delhi NCR witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning. Sudden showers led to traffic congestion in many areas, including ITO, causing inconvenience to commuters. According to the weather department, Delhi-NCR will witness moderate to heavy rain in the next three-four day. The Delhi traffic police, in a series of tweets, said the IP flyover has major obstruction in traffic for commuters due to overflow of sewer water in the area. The traffic controlling authority said traffic has been affected from Khyber Pass towards Model Town due to waterlogging near Mall Road. Additionally, the huge traffic congestion is
seen from GPO to Nigam Bodh Ghat due to waterlogging near Kela Ghat.
Further, traffic was affected near Tis Hazari court gate number-1 due to waterlogging, reported Delhi traffic police on twitter. On the route from Maharani Bagh to the Ashram, a tree has fallen, due to which traffic is disrupted. Traffic was affected on Rohtak Road from metro pillar number-407 to 514 due to water logging. Motorist who were coming from Peeragarhigh, took Karala Ranikheda Mangolpuri route for Tikri border, informed Delhi traffic police. And, Motorist who were coming from Bahadurgarh Tikri border towards Peeragarhi, took left from Mundka red light to Ranikheda karal. The traffic police further informed, traffic congestion was seen on Rohtak Road near Liberty cinema due to water logging.
"Badarpur Delhi near Jaitpur crossingroad is damaged due to water logging. Massive traffic jam, vehicles are struck, please fix this before major accident happens," a man tweets on waterlogging.
Traffic was also affected on GT Karnal road from Jahangirpuri towards Mukarba Chowk due to water logging near GTK depot. Traffic snarls were also seen in major areas such as RK Puram, DND Flyover and Mehrauli road, Dhaula Kuan among others. Motorists were locked bumper to bumper with the water logging making the matter worse at various stretches. "I was fully drenched as i failed to find cover because of heavy rain in the morning, I had to return to change clothes and wait until the rain got over to go to the office," said Vishal, who works for an MNC in Noida.
