Prisoners try to murder fellow inmate inside Bhondsi jail
Gurugram: Having been in news for all the wrong reasons, there was more controversy in store for Bhondsi jail in Gurugram after three prisoners tried to murder their fellow mate inside the jail premises. The inmate was, somehow, saved by the jail officials.
The inmate is presently receiving treatment in a hospital where he is said to be out of danger. Sources in the Gurugram police said that the prisoner was attacked by blunt objects and he sustained injuries in his chest and neck. Meanwhile, the jail authorities have begun investigations into the incident. There is also a probe going on as to how the prisoners were able to get their hands on the blunt objects with them.
Last year, 12 members of the Jyoti gang led by gangster Ajit Gulia had built an underground tunnel. Not only this, they were also planning to bump off some members of the rival Manjit Mahal gang before escaping. The police seized the sharp instruments used in digging the tunnel from the criminals.
Taking corrective action, the crime branch of Gurugram police has increased the security in the prison and has changed the barracks of over 55 prisoners. Meanwhile, the process of seizing mobile phones in the jail is going on and devices are being recovered on a daily basis.
