Prisoner accused of raping daughter kills self

Gururgam: In yet another controversial event that occurred in Bhondsi jail, a prisoner who was lodged in the jail for rape committed suicide. The prisoner who was arrested last year was being tried for raping his own daughter. According to the police, the deceased committed suicide by hanging himself in the washroom of the Bhondsi jail.

The incident has again raised questions of the working of the jail management who were not able to gauge the extreme action taken by the prisoner. Sources in the police claim that the prisoner who belongs from Saharsa Bihar was depressed and thereby took this major decision to end his life.

This is the second such death in Bhondsi prison. Earlier, a 38-year olf foreign national succumbed due to a mysterious illness in the Gurugram jail.

For long, there have been questions raised on the nexus between criminals and jail authorities as on multiple occasions there have been drugs, mobile phones that have been seized from the prison. Moreover, there have also been extortion calls made inside the prison. The illegal activities continue even as the authorities are trying to put jammers at the prison complex. Criminals from six dreaded gangs are lodged in the jail.
