New Delhi: Small railway stations in the National Capital can be used for trafficking of illicit liquor to different States during Holi festival, taking a note of the situation, the security of small stations has been heightened.
Police sources claimed that with five major stations in Delhi, the security of other 40 stations has been heightened as police suspect that the traffickers might use the small stations for liquor trafficking.
An order has also come from the Police Headquarters for all the police districts to keep a tab on the supply of illicit liquor supply.
Sources further claimed that lack of security at the small stations proved to a boon for the liquor traffickers. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) Parwaiz Ahmed told Millennium Post that patrolling is going on at the small stations.
"We have briefed our staffs about the security measures and we have heightened the patrolling in the small stations," said the DCP.
Bringing the liquor from Haryana in the bus to National Capital, the traffickers take trains from the small railway station because of less footfall and also to dodge police.
Even after liquor ban in Bihar, the traffickers target the state for supplying the illegal alcohol as in three separate cases Delhi Police arrested three persons from different railway stations in the Capital who were taking the liquor to the dry state to get profit.
Further interrogation of the accused revealed that they brought liquor for Rs 150 or Rs 200 and wanted to sell it for 400 rupees in Bihar. The past records of the three accused have been scanned to ascertain whether they supplied the liquor to the dry state.
