Police received over 100 applications for firecracker licences

New Delhi: The Delhi Police received more than 100 applications for the licence of temporary firecrackers. The investigating agency had started sending their vigilance team in the market in order to check whether any illegal selling of firecrackers is going on in the area. The city police has given more focus on foot patrolling through which they can maintain tight vigil in their districts.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police also identified a few places where they have started their picketing to curb the menace of drunken driving.

The data accessed by Millennium Post claimed that from South East Delhi, 38 applications for licences were received whereas from South district around 30 applications were there. "35 applications were from West Delhi and from Outer, it was around two," said the police data. More than 30 applications were received in Dwarka district. The last date of submitting the application was October 28. Police sources claimed that the firecrackers should be approved with Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation.

According to police, they have told SHOs to intensify the patrolling in their concerned district. "Recently in North Delhi area SHOs from different police stations conducted foot patrolling in the area," said police officer. They further added that the vigilance team which is headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police is now keeping a tab on different areas to make sure that no illegal firecrackers are sold in the National Capital.
