Police crack ₹42L Karol Bagh heist; recovery made via facial-ID tools

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for a high-value heist at a mobile wholesale shop in Karol Bagh.

The case was reported through an e-FIR after the shop’s owner discovered a forcible break-in on the morning of November 5, with the rear window smashed and

cash missing.

According to the police, a theft of Rs 42,39,400 has been cracked by the Karol Bagh Police Station team, leading to the arrest of Suraj, son of Anil, a resident of Mukundpur, and the recovery of more than Rs 13.50 lakh with the help of facial recognition system.

A team led by Inspector Karuna Sagar, under the supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar, launched the investigation. CCTV footage showed four unidentified men entering the premises at 2.15 am and leaving at 2.50 am. They had reached in an e-rickshaw and fled in an auto-rickshaw, with their route tracked through technical analysis.

Advanced facial-recognition tools, including C-Trace and C-Boat, matched the suspects’ faces in the CCTV footage to known identities, eventually pointing to an insider role. Suraj, an employee of the shop, was arrested in Mukundpur with part of the stolen cash. During questioning, he admitted to his involvement and revealed that the other accused—residents of Shahjahanpur—remain

on the run.
